Love vs. Money – The Dream (March 10th)

Published on March 7th, 2009

Singer, songwriter and producer – The Dream is back with sophomore album, Love vs. Money, due out on my favorite day of the week, New Music Tuesday, March 10th. After a successful first album in LoveHate, The Dream is back to try to shut down the R&B game as we approach the summer. In the stint between his albums The Dream also produced some notable tracks on Jamie Foxx’s album Intution, as well as for other artists like Mary J. Blige, LL Cool J, and Mariah Carey. I was so lucky to get my hands on it early, went through it a couple times, and got addicted! Its definitely a step above from LoveHate with that same Dream style where he transitions the end of the song into the next song. LoveHate told a story of break ups and the need for something new in a woman but this time The Dream swithches it up.

In an interview The Dream spoke on his new album, “This album’s gonna be the same thing – a little more beefed up, I’m just gonna give you more. Every album I m just gonna try to give you more of me, and what I think about certain things… This album is just gonna be the first album on crack, basically.”

Love vs. Money tells a story of not being able to keep a woman with your money but suggests keeping your woman happy with love. The titled track, Love Vs. Money and part 2 go into this topic as well as Take Her Home to My Mama, Fancy, and Right Side of My Brain. Saying in Love Vs. Money, “instead of loving you, I was making it rain…”But in The Dream’s style he also has some baby-makers on this album in Put It Down, Sweat It Out, Mr. Yeah, and Kelly’s 12 Play, which all can help the set the mood. Top to Bottom, this album is definitely certain to take The Dream to another platinum album and worldwide status. The album is versatile and The Dream sticks to what made him famous – can’t hate on that!

On this album The Dream collaborated in production with Tricky Stewart, who produced most of songs with special appearances by Kanye West on Walking on the Moon, Mariah Carey on My Love, and Lil Jon on Let me See the Booty.

Please go out and get this album on March 10th!

This is WHAT’S IN MY HEADPHONES…

after further listening of Love Vs Money, i have to say it has taken the cake thus far for rnb lp’s this year. i really dont see anybody giving dream a run unless you consider the upcoming thank me later a rnb album. the core of the album well what i consider the core tracks 7-11 transition seamlessly with essentially no gaps. take you home then the two title tracks which go so hard i am going to get two mtx’s just to hear what the bass line really sounds like. then my favorite track fancy and right side of your brain go together very well. dream created a gem, my personal opinion he probably could have done with out the last two tracks and the bonus track however to each his own and club bangers are necessary.
