We dig young talent here at WHAT’S IN MY HEADPHONES…So we’re bringing you some of that un-signed, under the radar hype in the form of Kole Davis. Originally from Chicago and now a junior at Morehouse College, Kole is making a name for himself in the “Black Hollywood” of Atlanta – recently placing 2nd in the Time2Shine Atlanta Showcase earlier this month. He has also been featured on StreetCred and the Broadway Report. A student by day, musician by night, Kole is continuing to perfect his craft, teaching himself how to play most of the instruments he plays – a great drummer and guitarist. Seeking more to get into music production, he ended up pulling a Kanye-move and provided the lyrics for his own songs, and it has paid off. But he’s not rapping about his iced out chains or his maybach on 24s, simply just about being a 20 year old trying to make it and college life. With his mixtape, The Projection, in production, Kole Davis is set to bring a new feel to the hip-hop, rap, and pop genres. With a Puerto Rican background and upbringing, Kole appreciates many different kinds of music allowing him to stretch beyond the usual rap, hip-hop and R&B and may allow him to delve into pop and reggaeton – other genres that have already influenced him thus far. He personifies the versatility and diversity that is usually missing from mainstream music.
