Jay-Z's Death of AutoTune – Turning a corner for Hip Hop?

Published on June 6th, 2009

Infamous for creating trends in Hip Hop and urban culture, Jay-Z goes against the norm with this track, Death of Autotune, seemingly a diss to those using the music technology on their tracks. Encouraging rappers to get back to rapping this track was actually co-produced by an Autotone advocate, Kanye West, but also taking shots at Lil Wayne and T-Pain (who are working on the T-Wayne album, coming soon). With the Blueprint 3 coming on September 11, 2009, on the 8 year anniversary of the first Blueprint, Jay-Z is back to putting Hip Hop on his back and carrying the load with the new generation that is coming out. This track definitely sets the tone of Jay-Z, as the current king of Hip Hop, advising those to stick to what Hip Hop was back in the day – no gimmicks, no tricks, just an amazing beat and lyrics that reach listeners. Just released today, take a listen…Is this the Death of Autotone?

This is WHAT’s IN MY HEADPHONES…
P.S. He’s rocking the ‘fro until the album is done…Its a Blueprint 3 Fro.
