With their ensuing first album coming later this year, Pac Div, released their Church League Champions Mixtape today. If you’re not familiar with this Southern California group, they have been in the game since 2006 and have created major buzz within the hip hop industry, earning support from stars like Pharrell Williams, Snoop Dogg, Talib Kweli, 9th Wonder and Ludacris. Pac Div, which includes the two brothers, Like and Mibbs, and lifelong friend BeYoung, is another group dedicated to bringing back hip hop this year featuring lyrical content that won’t probably make the radio but should make it your headphones. With a west coast style, Pac Div is able to differentiate from the usual west coast, gangster rap and make something you can relate to. The Church League Champions is a basketball themed mixtape (similar to J.Cole, The Cool Kids, and Phil Ade) which talks about quitting that day job and trying to make it in the game.
I found out about them through my fellow hip hop head, Rich (@Rdothdot) and am glad I checked out the tape. The mixtape features a range of different beats and feels that will keep you bobbing your head. Get into a couple tracks like For You, No No, Shut Up, Knuckleheadz, and Young Black Male. Check out their website dedicated to the mixtape to find out more about them and the mixtape. Grab the mixtape here, tell me what you think…Are they really something different for the West Coast?
This is WHAT’S IN MY HEADPHONES…
