New Music Tuesday: A day of Slaughterhouse…

Published on August 12th, 2009

slaughterhouse-album

Slaughterhouse’s self titled album dropped today and while most of you already had your hands on the album, August 11th was a day that was long awaited by many. The group featuring Royce Da 5’9″, Joe Budden, Joell Ortiz and Crooked I, who just recently finished the Rock the Bells Tour, has been drawing much buzz and controversy due to the beef spurring between Joe Budden and Raekwon of the Wu-Tang Clan. Anyways, back to the music – this album has already been proclaimed as a classic as it was created in a 6 day period with production by The Alchemist, DJ Khalil, StreetRunner, and D12′s Mr. Porter. I thought there would have been more than 12 tracks but you take what you can get. Heres the tracklist:

1. Sound Off
2. Lyrical Murderers (feat. K. Young)
3. Microphone
4. Not Tonight
5. The One (feat. The New Royales)
6. In The Mind Of Madness (skit)
7. Cuckoo
8. The Phone Call (skit)
9. Onslaught 2 (feat. Fatman Scoop)
10. The Phone Call 2 (skit)
11. Salute (feat. Pharoahe Monch)
12. Pray (it’s A Shame)
13. Cut You Loose
14. Rain Drops (feat. Novel)
15. Killaz (feat. Melanie Rutherford & C. Brown)

My favorite tracks on this album are Microphone, Onslaught 2, and Killaz (which I saw them perform at the Rock the Bells concert in Chicago). Even though you may already have the  Slaughterhouse album, please make sure that you go buy this classic album from what some are saying could be one of the great hip hop groups of all time? What do you think?

BONUS!!!

Joe Budden’s also released his The Escape Route album today by way of Amalgam Digital – as they are continuing to generate buzz by releasing their own solo albums (all are working on their individual projects, Royce’s album The Revival was released weeks ago). Off of the success of the previous Halfway House and Padded Room albums, The Escape Route is in preparation for his The Great Escape LP set to be released in the future. The album features appearances from Wale, Slaughterhouse and Young Chris with production from 9th Wonder, Streetrunner, Chad West, and J. Cardim. Here’s the tracklist, check it out…The Escape Route…

1. Intro
2. Anti
3. Never Again
4. World Keep Spinnin’
5. Forgive Me
6. State of You
7. Good Enough

9. We Outta Here feat. Slaughterhouse
10. Clothes on a Mannequin
11. Freight Train
