Like I said I would, I attended Sneaker Pimps Chicago this past Friday and besides the hundreds of fresh kicks that were in my direct and peripheral vision I was able to catch some footage of performers at the convention…
Phil Ade – if you remember I dropped Phil’s mixtape, Starting on JV, back in Mid-July and ever since then he has been on Sneaker Pimps tour, starring on stages across America. The homie actually turned 21 that night so I’m sure he had a good one and he performed well in front of a Chicago crowd that probably didn’t know much about him, but I will definitely continue to hold him down here at WIMH to make sure you all know about this young and upcoming talent, check him out here performing Try Out…
Mikkey Halsted – The Chi-town homie also blessed the stage, of course performing one of my favorite and one of the most real songs I know, Liquor Store. Mikkey is slowly but surely making a name for himself nationwide and seems to be the people’s champion here in Chicago. There is no doubting his lyrical content – he raps about what he sees or has experienced. Its a shame artists like him don’t get more limelight. But anyway, enough ranting…Mikkey also gave a preview into his next album Photo Album with this concert exclusive of Zoom In, check it out:
The Clipse – the headliner of the Sneaker Pimps, and who are also on tour with The Cool Kids, definitely tore the stage down at Sneaker Pimps. Performing tracks from all three albums including their next album, Til The Casket Drops (which will be released on October 20th) you can still see how many people still follow and got love for them even after somewhat of a hiatus from being on the scene. But it was good to see them back in the forefront of all the other Hip Hop groups out there. At an album listening party earlier that night, I got to hear their upcoming album and it will not disappoint – tracks like So Obnoxious, Champion, and Popular Demand are notables. On this album they said they worked with Pharrell but for the first they reached out to different producers. Yet and still, every beat goes hard and they kill it on the lyrical side. Check out the performance of their first single, Kind of A Big Deal…
This is WHAT’S IN MY HEADPHONES…
