“Its ironic. I had the booze. She had the chronic….. the Lakers beat the Supersonics.”

Different people listen to music for different moods. Most of the time I listen to music to match the mood that I’m in or the mood I’d like to be in. For this week’s Throwback Thursday I want to focus on the positive and eliminate the negative because there are enough negative and sad things going on in the world.

Ice Cube’s “It Was a Good Day” does just that. He takes the listeners on a lyrical journey detailing what a typical day is like in his neighborhood and why today just so happens to be a good day filled with basketball games at the park,  putting the mack game down on the honies, and making money all while avoiding the police and or any other violence that would usually take place. His smooth delivery matched with an Isley Brother’s sample makes not only for  a great song, but also a hip hop classic.
