Remember when it seemed like every hip-hop music (and skateboarding) video was filmed with a fish lens? The fisheye lens in music videos became Hype Williams’ signature style, he produced the video for Missy Elliot’s “Supa Dupa Fly.”

Side Note: Lil’ Kim, do you see Missy Elliot showing her ass, because Nicki Minaj stole her “I’m-a-bizarro-dresser-but-it-works-for-me” steez? Naaah. Teaching moment.
Well, in the past week I’ve seen two music videos, both produced by Hype Williams, where a featured artist is shot with his back to the camera, the side of his face visible over his shoulder. In Lil’ Wayne “6 Foot 7 Foot” it makes a bit more sense because it’s clear Corey Gunz is trying to show off the back of his jacket, but in Kanye’s “All of the Lights,” the tension in Kid Cudi’s shots are magnified, because he performs with his back to the viewer. Do you think this new Hype Williams signature move will explode into the next fisheye lens?

I don’t think the release date will stick seeing as they need to promote the album but expect some great production and bars from one of hip hop’s upcoming groups…Shouts out to Meka of 2Dopeboyz for getting his hands on this…
