WIMH is lucky enough to be an official sponsor for the North Coast Music Festival, which will take place in Chicago, IL from September 3-5 in Union Park. Leading up to weeks of the festival, we will be giving away a pair of 3-day passes to the festival per week which will feature a host of Electronic bands like The Chemical Brothers and Moby as well as some great hip hop acts in Lupe Fisaco, Jay Electronica, Nas & Damien Marley, and De La Soul. So you do not want to miss this! For today’s giveaway we will have a little trivia…Here is what you have to do to win:

Surprisingly Jay-Z blesses the crowds with the Intro from The Dynasty: Roc La Familia 2000 with a rock twist to it. This is what he should be doing more often in concert. I would be the first in line to buy a “nothing but Jay-Z Intro’s” CD. Check out the rest where he performs more current joints too.

So the time has come…In collaboration with the Work.Grind.Progress Movement we’re finally dropping our first mixtape (cover album/tracklisting coming soon…) but we also wanted to celebrate the release and showcase some of the artists that will be on the tape. Make sure you come out to Dragonfly on June 27th to see live performances from YP, Add-2, Neak, Que Billah, Andrew Davis, R.O.E. and will be hosted by our homie Hustle Simmons…It is sure to be a great night of hip hop with some good people in the building…Grab your tickets early here! Big Sean, Finally Famous and G.O.O.D. Take Over Chicago [Video]

Last night, G.O.O.D. music artist Big Sean headlined a concert at the Wild Hare Chicago last night with other artists like Really Doe and GLC in the building. While building up to Big Sean’s set they were shooting a video in the basement of the venue for GLC x Big Sean x Chip The Ripper collab track Okay…Unfortunately due to disgruntled rapper’s syndrome, Big Sean’s set was cut short but the good people at GoWhereHipHop got some great footage of him performing the widely received Supa Dupa Lemonade Freestyle that made the crowd go crazy…

That was my first time seeing Big Sean perform so I was highly disappointed that somebody from my city would do such a crazy thing like that…anyway here’s the Supa Dupa Lemonade footage and him talking about being recognized as a 2010 XXL Freshman as well as the melee that took place and Behind the Scenes from the video for Okay after the jump…

If you did not catch the Hope for Haiti Benefit concert last night it was a very touching and gut-wrenching show especially when they told experiences of some of the people that have suffered from the diastrous earthquake. A wide range of artists like Jennifer Hudson, Madonna, Christina Aguilera, Justin Timberlake, Alicia Keys, John Legend and more all put on very heart warming and contribution inspiring songs. Hopefully a ton of money was made and will be donated. All of the songs performed will actually be available for purchase on iTunes on January 25th. Jay Electronica x Mos Def x Talib Kweli x Diddy Perform Exhibit C [Video]

So I wake up to some dope coverage of the Mos Def concert from last night in NYC at the Highline Ballroom – a concert that I was supposed to attend but did not make for a number of reasons. But props to Mikey of Miss Info who got some footage of this momentus occasion with 4 super powers in Hip Hop taking the stage.

Jay Electronica is having a powerful effect on Hip Hop these days as Exhibit C continues to be a top song on any Hip Hop Head’s list. His effect is almost Drake-esque without having a major album or a major label’s backing that he has been able to have such reach and a buzz on the internet and on the streets. Will we ever get an album out of him? We’ll see, but if you don’t remember he, Mos Def and Curren$y will also collaborate on the Center Edge Territory project…That should definitely be dope. Anyway, enjoy this performance and the potential of greatness that you see on the stage.
